You can also visit www.birdlandjazz.com for further information. <br \/>The first release is the CD EP <strong>Bound Together<\/strong> by the <strong>Johnny Rodgers Band<\/strong>: Johnny Rodgers on vocals and piano, <strong>Brian Glassman<\/strong> on double bass, <strong>Danny Mallon<\/strong> on drums, <strong>Joe Ravo<\/strong> on guitar. The EP contains four brand new songs. The catchy title cut and rallying call for world unity; <strong>Cry For Freedom<\/strong>, shaded in <strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong>\/<strong>Beatles<\/strong>esque sounds; <strong>The Best Of You In Me<\/strong>, a touching ballad and tribute to those who helped form each of us; and <strong>Lord Let The Angels Sing<\/strong>, a new Christmas song and destined to be classic, featuring guest artist <strong>Ben Taylor<\/strong> (son of music icons <strong>Carly Simon<\/strong> and <strong>James Taylor<\/strong>). <br \/>Johnny\u2019s second EP <strong>Let\u2019s Make A Date<\/strong>, featuring guest artist Oscar, Tony, Emmy and Grammy winning superstar <strong>Liza Minnelli<\/strong>. The release coincides with Rodgers\u2019 Broadway debut in Minnelli\u2019s new show at <strong>The Palace Theatre<\/strong>, December 2008. The duo is backed by the Johnny Rodgers Band and Liza\u2019s musical mentor, her longtime musical director, the late <strong>Bill \u201cPappy\u201d Lavorgna<\/strong>, on drums. What is one of his last recordings, Lavorgnia had worked with such musical icons as <strong>Frank Sinatra<\/strong>, <strong>Sammy Davis Jr.,<\/strong> <strong>Peggy Lee<\/strong> and her mother <strong>Judy Garland<\/strong>. Rodgers has been featured and toured North and South America and Europe with Minnelli and her orchestra. The EP also contains Johnny\u2019s rousing cover of the Randy Newman song <strong>You Can Leave Your Hat On<\/strong>.
